Leveraging AI for Enhanced User Experience – Practical Applications in Search, Personalization, and Fraud Prevention at Switzerland’s largest second-hand marketplaces

This talk will explore how AI is revolutionizing user interactions through improved search algorithms, personalised recommendations, and robust fraud prevention.
Ferdinand will showcase real-world case studies, demonstrating AI’s role in helping users discover their favorite items, tailoring their experiences, and catching fraudsters. By separating false promises from practical applications that are used by hundreds of thousands of users every day, attendees will learn how AI can improve their platforms.

AI Job Corrector
This topic centers on the AI assistant in ad administration, “Job Corrector”, a system designed to identify irregularities in job ads. Its primary focus is on identifying legal violations that may occur in ads, for which our company, as the publisher, is accountable for. These include among others, various forms of discrimination – such as those based on gender, age, location, or the requirement for photographs – among a total of 19 specific irregularities.
When the system detects an issue, it suggests a potential correction. In the ad administration application, we highlight the text that GPT identifies as problematic and provide its recommended correction. The administrator can then choose to accept or reject the suggestion, functioning similarly to Grammarly.

Debunking three common misconceptions in the industry: (1) that the approach to solving SEO is a solved problem, (2) that they’ve maxed out ways to extract revenue from sellers, and (3) that content distribution to social channels has already reached its full potential. Through real-world case studies, Matthew will demonstrate how they’ve challenged these myths using the CDE, and the significant impacts it’s had on their performance.
The key takeaways for the audience will be:
Fresh SEO Insights: New strategies and technologies that go beyond traditional SEO approaches. How they can use AI and tooling to target long tail searches and optimise for AI Overview based search;
Revenue Growth Opportunities: Innovative methods to monetize marketplaces beyond the conventional models;
Enhanced Content Distribution: Advanced techniques for maximizing content reach and engagement across social channels.
Matthew will also illustrate how these strategies have been implemented in practice, leading to tangible results.
